ABOUT THE ARTIST
Andrew Norris' (b. 1993, Kingsport, Tennessee) creative practice contains image manipulation and old master techniques in oil painting. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. Andrew takes influence from southern male ideologies that are common place in a rural environment that promote a toxic understanding of manhood. Since graduation in 2016 his work has been curated into exhibitions such as 32nd Annual Tallahassee International Exhibit at Florida State University, the 33rd Annual International Exhibition at the University of Texas at Tyler, and the 6th Annual Armstrong National 2-D Competition at Georgia Southern University for which he won 3rd place. Within the last several years Andrew's artwork, alongside an interview, was published in ArtAscent Magazine followed by acceptance at the Arts Letters & Numbers artist residency in upstate New York. Andrew recently accepted enrollment to the MFA program at the University of Florida starting in Fall 2018.
