ABOUT THE ARTIST
Andrew Norris’s creative practice contains image manipulation and old master techniques in oil painting. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. Born and raised in Northeast Tennessee, Andrew takes influence from southern male ideologies that are common place in a rural environment and promote a toxic understanding of manhood. His work has been recently curated into exhibitions such as 32nd Annual Tallahassee International Exhibit at Florida State University, the 33rd Annual International Exhibition at the University of Texas at Tyler, and the 6th Annual Armstrong National 2-D Competition at Armstrong State University for which he won 3rd place. He has recently had his artwork alongside an interview published in ArtAscent Magazine and attended a 2 week stay at the Arts Letters & Numbers artist residency in Averill Park, NY. Andrew recently accepted to lecture and exhibit work at Kansas City Kansas Community College and will attend the MFA program at the University of Florida starting in Fall 2018.
